Allowance - one time aid

Who can apply for the allowance?

The allowance can be received by a student in a temporary difficult life situation.

An unfortunate accident may be:

  • death of a family member;
  • serious illness of a family member;
  • natural disasters (e.g. fire, flood), war;
  • birth or adoption of a child;
  • other events as a result of which the student finds themselves in a temporary difficult life situation.

How to apply for this one-term financial aid?

Financial aid may be admitted by an authorized employee of the Student Affairs Center upon the student's application. The application must be completed in USOSweb, printed, signed and submitted in paper form to BOSS along with the documentation.

The application must be accompanied by documents confirming a difficult life situation of the student.

A document confirming finding oneself in a difficult life situation may be, in particular:

  • a medical documentation (medical certificates of past illness, hospital stay card, bills for treatment or other medical services, bills for purchase of medicines or other medical supplies),
  • a certificate from a social welfare centre,
  • a court or bailiff's decision, documents issued by the Police,
  • a birth certificate of the student's child or a document confirming his or her adoption,
  • a death certificate of a family member,
  • other certificates from relevant institutions and offices confirming the circumstances described in the application.

If it is not possible to present any documents from the list above, it is possible to submit a written statement about the student’s situation, confirmed by at least 3 students, including a member of AGH University Student Government (URSS).  

How much is the allowance?

The amount of the emergency allowance depends on the student's situation. The maximum amount of the allowance is set annually by the Rector. In the academic year 2024/2025, this amount is PLN 3,000.00.

How many times can you apply for the allowance?

A student can receive the allowance no more than 2 times per academic year, only for one field of study.
You cannot apply for the allowance twice for the same reason.

Note!

An application for the allowance should be submitted no later than 90 days after the reason indicated in the application occurred.

Who cannot apply for the allowance?

The allowance is not available to students with the following professional titles:

  • Master of Science, Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent,
  • Bachelor of Science, Engineer or equivalent, if they are resuming first-cycle studies.

Note!

The benefits referred to in Article 86 of the Act - including the allowance - are available for first-cycle and second-cycle studies, but for no longer than 12 semesters, regardless of whether the student is receiving them, with the proviso that within this period the benefits are available:

  • for first-cycle studies - for no longer than 9 semesters
  • for second-cycle studies - for no longer than 7 semesters.

These provisions also apply to persons studying or holding professional titles obtained abroad.

 

What can you do in case of a refusal to grant the allowance by an authorised employee of the Student Affairs Centre?
A student dissatisfied with the decision may submit a request for reconsideration of the matter to the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs.
